Project Objective
Development of collaborations with the Whale watchers of Martinique
The Cohesion Project is a citizen science initiative originally created in Martinique and designed to foster collaboration between the Caribbean Cetacean Society (CCS) and whalewatchers. Its primary mission is to actively involve ecotourism professionals and their clients in the study and conservation of marine mammals, making every trip out to sea an opportunity to contribute to science.

Through this growing network of partners, whale watching crews and passengers become key contributors to regional research. By collecting valuable data during their excursions, such as identification photos, videos, GPS coordinates, group size estimates, and behavioral observations, they contribute to the CCS's regional database. These contributions are essential for improving our knowledge of Lesser Antilles cetacean species, their seasonal patterns, habitat use, and social structures.

We warmly invite whale watching operators and their clients throughout the Caribbean to join the Cohesion Project. To participate, simply fill out the form below each time you observe whales or dolphins. Whether you are a captain, guide, or just a visitor, your contribution matters, and together, we can strengthen the protection of these iconic marine species.
