Ti Whale An Nou : a Caribbean-wide conservation program

Ti Whale An Nou is a program for acquiring knowledge about cetaceans in the Caribbean. Created in 2021, this program has enabled the emergence of numerous cooperation, research, conservation and education projects in the different islands of the Lesser Antilles. Their common point is the improvement of cetacean conservation in the Caribbean region.

What do we actually do?

The Ti Whale An Nou program combines several approaches to collect data on cetaceans: visual transects, passive acoustics and photo identification (photo ID). Each year, data collection is carried out during several 15-day expeditions spread across a study area extending between Anguilla and Grenada. This comprehensive methodology allows for a global survey within the Lesser Antilles and provides robust data on the distribution, behavior and characteristics of cetacean populations.
